For over 50 years, four generations of the Kimmel family have made memories on the Kimmel Ranch that matriarch Lillian and late husband Edward Kimmel, called home. They had the foresight to settle in the far reaches of the California wine region and plant vines where few vines were planted at the time. Kimmel wines were born with the intention to honor low interventionist winemaking, allowing the land and each vintage to be the guiding light to share with family and friends like you, who appreciate attention to detail and special experiences as much as we do.

Introducing Lilied by Kimmel Wines

Lilied began as an idea from Sashi Moorman to produce a soulful, rustic blend of equal parts Syrah and Cabernet Franc similar in style to wines by inconclast Provencal producer, Domaine Trevallon. The name ‘Lilied’ means to adorn as well as a combination of the names of Lilian and Edward Kimmel. Kimmel Ranch is located in the far reaches of Mendocino in western Potter Valley at the inception of the Mayacama mountain range. Located at 1000 feet of elevation the sprawling mountain range gives way to afternoon coastal breezes allowing for cool afternoons after warm summer days. The Cabernet Franc vines planted in 1980 on Franciscan shale with Saint George root stock in a California sprawl configuration.

All Kimmel wines go through elevage under the guiding hand of Sashi Moorman and his thoughtful team John Faulkner and Tim Fimpler.

The sons of Edward and Lillian, and Grandson, Jason Kimmel, piloted this project to share wine, preserve land, and honor family.
